About Us:
SplatterBox is a multi-faceted art studio for children of all ages. Our sessions, workshops, special events, and art parties are all designed to meet the social, emotional, cognitive, and expressive needs of every child. By providing children with high-quality and exciting materials, tools, and techniques - we allow them the opportunity to explore freely as we guide them through the process of creating multi-media art.
Who We Are:
We're Not Just An Art Studio - We're A SMART Studio
Children need a variety of experiences to assist them in learning & exploring their environment. Through art, children learn to value their own uniqueness and to appreciate the individuality of others. We have designed a wide range of projects that contribute to all aspects of a child’s cognitive, social, and emotional development.
Personal Development: Art provides a great opportunity to express oneself in a creative and enriching way. Our classes further this self-discovery and help build self-esteem. Each work of art creates a sense of achievement and success.
Social Development: Social development is enhanced as children learn to cooperate during group projects. When individual projects are combined, young artists gain a sense of contribution to a group product and develop an understanding of ‘we’ rather than “me”.
Physical Development:
While creating art, children learn to use small muscles, further developing hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and even their sense of rhythm.
Language Development: During and after the completion of their art projects, language is applied and their vocabulary is further developed as they talk/explain - what/how they completed their work.
Cognitive Development: Examples of cognitive development –
-
Ratios - such as one-one or one-several
-
Part to whole relations
-
Classification
-
Spatial relationships
-
States of matter
-
Number to quantity
-
Topological relationship
-

SplatterBox was founded by artist couple, Kristen Nelson & Erik Sabatelli. Together they run and develop each project to gain the most out of young artists. Both are graduates of the Massachusetts College of Art & Design with degrees in design. Together they are a passionate and experienced team who have created a safe nurturing environment that draws out the creative instincts in every child.
